Confederations Cup South Africa 2009: The Party Starts....Now!

The Confederations Cup is a tournament that gathers around the champions from different continents. This tournament is giving us an instant preview of how the World Cup is going to be next year with 32 teams. The tournament consists of 8 teams, 4 of each teams are in two groups, the first two of the group enter the semifinals and from then on the show begins. The Confederations Cup shows us in many different ways of working together as one world because as we see many teams show their camaraderie towards each other to make their country look good.

Sunday was the opening ceremony and the inaugural game of host South Africa against Iraq, Asia's winner, in which they tied 0-0. While Spain, Euro 2008 winner, squashed New Zealand with a 5-0 thanks to three goals from Fernando Torres (above picture), Cesc Fabregas and David Villa. Today was an exciting second day of the Confederations Cup because I got to see Brazil and Egypt battle it out in an "epic" battle in which Brazil won in a tight scoreboard of 4-3 thanks to Kaká's perfect penalty shot. While the United States faced the defending champions of the World Cup Italy, in which they came up from losing 1-0 in the first half, thanks to two goals made by Giuseppe and Daniele Rossi. This Confederations Cup sure is going to bring the world a party to remember because it can reminds us the positive in the world and most of all unity to hug each other and call themselves brothers and sisters.

Ecuador dreams of South Africa 2010

This portion of this blog is dedicated to the Ecuadorian national which achieved two victories against Peru and Argentina in the 13th and 14th rounds of the qualifiers to the World Cup 2010. Ecuador besides being the underdog of the qualifiers, showed a collective group by just forcing themselves to not give up. Ecuador has been playing with much confidence in these past four days against rivals that can be difficult to defeat because Peru and Argentina both have an essential way of defending. I give credit of Argentina with Lionel Messi's sudden attacks and Juan Sebastian Veron's effective way of passing, but they gave it all to at least score a goal.

Ecuador was always known as a weak team over the past ten years because of their level of playing grew as the years went by. As Ecuador qualified for the 2002 and 2006 World Cup, Ecuador has shown a dramatic change in their way of playing. The meaning of every game is that by working together, they can achieve great things, that is one lesson to be learned in my book that I'm reading. It doesn't matter what country you are from as long as you believe that you can make it, great things are bound to happen. Just keep your head above high and believe you can!

This weekend it was all about the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. Millions of fans around the world rooted for their countries respectively. Each team played with alot of hierarchy and leadership that they learned how to managed to work together as a team. On Saturday Japan, South Korea and the Netherlands qualified to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Japan defeated Uzbekistan 1-0 in a tight game that Japan was almost surely to tie the game in Uzbekistanian soil, while Australia tied the game with Quatar. South Korea defeated United Arab Emirates 2-0 in Dubai and is the only leader of the group. While around the world in their respective continents they are more games to be played in order to find out who is actually going to the World Cup. But surely I know that many teams around the world want to go to this World Cup first held in African continent, all teams around the world are curious to find out the culture and their way of life cause to be honest it sounds pretty nice to go to South Africa!!

Road to South Africa 2010

This week is all about soccer around the world. Many different countries are going to fight until the last minute to achieve glory. Famous players like Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi will demonstrate in the field their quality of game. Paraguay, leader of the World Cup Qualifiers will try to consolidate themselves as leaders by playing against Chile, leaded by Argentinian coach Marcelo Bielsa. All teams around the world, will try to win victories in their respective matches to achieve a place in the World Cup held for the first time in African soil.

The 59th FIFA congress was held in the Bahamas to decide the main topics that include the desperate measures in leagues around the world. FIFA President Joseph Blatter is "absolutely happy to develop unity in the family", in which he wants all players to work as one. Many players around the world are brought from many different backgrounds, but I think that they have so much passion that they need to make it to the top. The FIFA Congress was successful in the Bahamas, they revealed the culture and living that they make it seem like one world can become one alliance in working together as a fair play world.

Lionel Messi: The Best Player in the World 2009?

Lionel Messi has once again proved millions of people of why he should be the best soccer player in the world. His ability to run down through defenders and a threat to goalies around the world has made him one of the best players in our generation. Since 2005 he was considered to be a soccer prodigy and becoming the seed of Diego Armando Maradona, which is another iconic player from Argentina. Throughout the season, Lionel Messi has inherited the number 10 jersey in Barcelona FC. He scored 9 scores in the Champions including the one that sealed the victory 2-o over Manchester United on May 27th.

In my opinion, I think Lionel Messi has been one of the most humble Argentine players I have ever seen. As you know, he suffers from a growth hormone defficiency, and from that I think that he sees through that and makes it as a motivation spark that can make him move forward with strenght and courage. There are alot of reasons why he should be the best player in the world for this year because he has made an enormous amount of effort scoring 38 goals in a season. We see everyday of people struggling for everything that they can to move forward with their lives, but when you see Lionel Messi's life, you probably notice that impossible is nothing.

Victories and Defeats

As I woke up this morning I said to myself "this day is going to be an eventful day for all of Europe." It was the final game of the UEFA Champions League between the two most powerful club teams in the world, Manchester United and FC Barcelona. When I saw that game on television It was one of the most attractive games I have ever seen since Brazil went against France in Germany 2006 World Cup. I would never see the day that these two teams played one another in a final, that I thought to myself that Manchester United was going to win but I was dead wrong. Barcelona was proclaimed the Champions League winners after defeating 2-0 to Manchester United in a game that I can surely quote of being "epic" for both teams to achieve GLORY!!

As Barcelona won the Champions League, I was thinking of going to Spain to join along the Mother Country,in which Spain is also known to Latin Americans, and celebrate this joyous tournament but unfortunately I was not there to witness this event. But, as for Manchester United, they played a very weak game, they were asleep in their defensive lines and their offensive line was very numb because as they went for the Barcelona goalie, Victor Valdes, he prevented from any goals entering. None of the changes Sir Alex Ferguson has made were useful in helping their attempt to at least tie the game, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo failed at shooting on target. As last season's champions, Manchester United became a part of yesterday, we move on and we experience a new champion, the UEFA Champions League Cup stays in Barcelona, Spain.

The Weekend

Photobucket

I felt that this weekend has been the longest ever. Not only I had to work and to watch many different soccer games, which I enjoyed, but most of all I enjoyed the fact that alot of things happened over the weekend. First of all on Friday as I was watching Fox Sports en Español, they were giving a show about critiquing of how Boca Juniors, popular soccer club in Argentina, played so bad home against Uruguayan team Defensor Sporting and they got eliminated in the quarter finals. This defeat costed not only because Boca Juniors is one of the most strongest teams in South America, but this showed that they are a 'glorious' team but they are wasted physically.

So I became sick on saturday, but don't worry everyone I'm doing fine, just getting better everyday as it is. But one of the most iportant things this weekend going on is the UEFA Champions League game between Manchester United and Barcelona FC in which Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson called it "one of the most attractive" games he ever played. I can't imagine the streets of Rome filled with euphoria of this fascinating game between these two teams, I wish I was there to watch it but I will be watching it here in America. So what do u think guys please feel free to express your feelings towards this game who will win this competition to qualify them to the Club World Cup 2009 in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates?

My First Day of Class

Photobucket

Yesterday was my first day of classes. As soon as I woke up, I saw the sun rising in the horizon and yet little did I know I was going to be late for 6 minutes. At first, I talked to one of my best friends who has always been there for me Angie, it was her graduation ceremony that sadly I couldn't go due to the fact that I had to go to my first day of class of Online Media and Blog Design. The class itself sounded very interesting because it had to do with doing blogs and doing graphics that can capture with the human eye.

Then, as time went by we disscussed of what we wanted to do with our blog and the idea for me that came up to me was sports. You see, I love sports, especially soccer. Soccer has been a passion for me since the 1st grade. My father introduced me to soccer, it's like introducing it to the world. What soccer really captivates its one of those great moments where someone scores the crowd just goes crazy and they become as loud as they can. I remember that one time it was the World Cup Germany 2006, when Ecuador made their first goal against Poland, everyone screamed their lungs as loud as they could more like the goal heard around the world, it was that loud. That situation right there can be one of the most proudest moments of my life because as I heard from my old soccer coach back in elementary school, he actually reminded me that by working together we can achieve great things.

So, since I dedicated this blog to soccer, I really wanted to come up with the ideas that its not just a sport but it can help back in many ways possible to those who are in need, for example, players like Didier Drogba from Ivory Coast and David Beckham are both players that are part of UNICEF, a United Nations Children's funds which works for children around the world in many aspects economically and socially. Such like Didier Drogba and David Beckham, we much reach a message around the world that children are the future of this world and not just children but those who are in need everywhere around the world so as this being my first blog, my goal is make this experience as fun as it can, like my coach said, we can work together and achieve great things in life and like the first goal it can be one of the things that we can be proud of.
